With the current pandemic, the state of the music and touring industry has dramatically changed. Where were you when everything was brought to a halt?
I was in Toronto and had just came back from recording my single "Rather" in Havana, Cuba.
How has that affected your plans for the coming year? Did you have a tour planned, upcoming album release?
I was planning on going back to Havana in the summer of 2020 to film a couple of videos, namely one for "Rather" and record another single, which is largely inspired by that city, it's people, and its particular setting.
What have you been doing to fill/make the most of your new-found free time at home? How are you supporting your mental health through all of this?
I have gone back to writing new songs and I am presently collaborating remotely with other artists as a vocalist for original music and in video projects for songs from my previous album. These collaborations and social interactions, with artists and radio DJs living in far-away-lands, as well as frequent long walks by the lake, cooking and meditation, have helped me a lot through all of this.
How are dealing with the Covid fifth wave? Have things locked down again in your region? Have you had to cancel gigs, tours, etc.? Are things reopening & restrictions are lifting in your region? Have you booked any new gigs, tours, etc.? What are your plans for 2022?
I am still dealing with this other wave much like in my previous answer, but I do wish in the near future to be able to meet in person with other musicians and artists (and friends in general), and perform in front of a live audience, to feel once again this type of energy. In the meantime, I am in conversation with my publicist Eric Alper on ways to promote my music and find creative ways to engage with my listeners during these very "special" times.
Do you have a message for everyone at home reading this?
These times have been very challenging on a global and personal level, but I guess that we have to adapt and find other ways to engage in creative projects. Fortunately, we have the technology to stay interconnected...So, until we all meet again, I invite you to listen to my music. Hope it speaks to you. Be well and stay safe.
